"Don't worry, little ones, I won't harm you," she said softly as she scooped up one of the children between her thumb and forefinger. "In fact, I'm going to make sure you have a nice, safe home to live in." She looked around and spotted a tiny hole in the ground that she assumed was their home. She leaned down and gently placed the child inside before covering it with dirt.

As she continued her journey through their world, Gabriela discovered that there were more places where the tiny people were hiding. They were like ants, always on the move and always looking for a place to call home. She found herself growing more protective of them, taking it upon herself to make sure they had everything they needed to survive. She spent days and nights searching for them, stumbling upon hidden niches where they were trying to eke out an existence.
