"Wow, that's dedication," I said, feeling slightly humbled by his efforts. "I feel kind of silly now. I thought I was being really creative with my cat costume." We shared a laugh over our costumes, and I couldn't help but notice that he seemed a little lonely. His friend had left him in the room because it was too loud for him. I felt a pang of sympathy for him; no one should feel left out at a party. "Well, it seems like your friend wasn't much of a friend after all," I said, trying to sound reassuring. "But don't worry, I think I could take better care of you than they ever could." His eyes widened as he looked up at me, and I realized that he was actually really cute. I started playing around with him, comparing him to objects in my purse and giggling as he tried to stand tall. "You know what?" I said, a mischievous glint in my eye. "I think you should come home with me. I could make you a little bed and a little cage to live in. You'd be safe and sound." Before he could respond, I gently placed him in my purse, promising to take very good care of him. And with that, I left the room, ready to introduce my new tiny pet to the world.
